How to Make Your Own ESP Zener Cards
Zener cards are a deck of 25 cards, consisting of a set of 5 simple shapes. They are used to test and develop your psychic acuity. If you want to deepen your clairvoyance, Zener cards are a great addition to your psychic toolbox.
Zener cards were developed and first used by psychologist Karl Zener for his experiments in parapsychology. You can purchase a pack of Zener cards for $9.99 up to a whopping $25.00 dollars per pack which to me is kind of steep!
I like to use Zener cards when conducting psychic development workshops, but the problem I found was that the cards were a bit pricey, and I always try to make sure that my workshop overhead is low. My solution was to have my students make the cards themselves. And what we found was that making the Zener cards together was as much fun as using them!
How to Make Your Own ESP Zener Cards
Through a bit of experimentation I discovered that I needed cards that were thick enough so that ink would not bleed through. So index cards were out. After a bit of investigating I found a pack of blank student flash cards at my local Staples. The ones I recommend are made by Trend Enterprises and you can also purchase them from Amazon.com for about 5 bucks.
What is great about this blank flash card deck is that it comes with 56 cards which means that one pack is enough to make two Zener card decks.

To make the cards I give the student a thick black marker and 25 blank cards. Note: do not use a permanent marker pens as these sometimes bleed through the card. I then display the five Zener symbols; instructing each student to make five cards each of each symbol. The extra blank cards are placed on the working area in case of mistakes.

How to Use Zener Cards with Another Person
Select one person to be the tester and another to be the reader (test subject). I like to have the students sitting back to back, either on the floor or in a chair while using the cards together. This way the reader cannot pick up the reflection of the card from either the tester’s glasses if he or she wears them, or from their cornea.
The tester will shuffle the cards thoroughly and then pull the first card from the top of the deck and ask the reader to guess the shape of the card. If the reader has a psychic hit, the card is put to the side. If the reader does not guess the correct card that card is then placed on the bottom of the pack with the blank side of the card facing up. After going through the entire deck the tester shows the reader how many intuitive hits they had.
Because there are 5 different symbols to choose from the odds of guessing strictly by chance are 1 in 5, or 1/5=.2. This means that the reader should have at least 10 correct guesses strictly by chance. The goal with the use of these cards is to increase the amount of correct hits.
Wait for a few minutes and repeat the process. The students will be amazed to find that the second time around they have increased their intuitive hits!
How to Use Zener Cards Alone
Shuffle the deck thoroughly, put the pack down on the table and guess what shape the first card in the deck is. Then turn the card over to see if you were right. The cards with a correct guess are put into one pile, and the cards with an incorrect guess go into another pile.
The use of Zener cards to develop your psychic skills is a fun and tangible way to grow confidence in your increasing intuitive skills. But remember, as with any psychic tool, practice makes perfect. Which means that the more you use the cards the better you’ll get. Have fun!
