Author Interview; The Archangel Apothecary. An insightful interview all about the book and the author Dar Payment.
Abbreviated Interview Transcript:
1. How did the concept for the book The Archangel Apothecary come about?
In order to answer that I need to give you a quick back story first. I was fortunate to have been mentored in the psychic arts from the age of 6 to 18 by a woman named Michelle Harriet. When I first met Mrs. Harriet she was in her early 50s. And not only was she a very gifted psychic and psychic medium, but she was also a master herbalist. And around the time I first met her, Mrs. Harriet and her husband begun a home-based mail order company specializing in their own medicinal plant and herbal remedies, as well as flower essences.
One summer Mrs. Harriet had a special workshop at her house on how to talk to plants. I was 16 years old at that time and Mrs. Harriet invited me to attend the workshop for free provided that I help her with handouts, as well as helping her serve refreshments.
But what I found that day was not only that I had a natural ability to communicate with plants, but also that I had a really keen interest in herbal lore.
I was so excited that after the workshop as I helped Mrs. Harriet clean up, I asked her how I could learn more about her craft. And it so happened that the family mail order business had really taken off which meant that Mr. and Mrs. Harriet needed someone to help them with their business preparing and packaging the herbal recipes, as well as helping them tend their gardens.
So she offered me the job, agreeing to share with me everything she knew about plant communication as well as herbal healing and lore. Talk about instant immersion.
For 4 to 5 hours a day I was Mrs. Harriet’s shadow. And true to her word, she joyfully shared with me everything about her craft as an herbalist, as well as her knowledge of herbal lore. And so this went on for two years.
And the last summer we spent together I was preparing to go off to college and Mr. and Mrs. Harriet informed me that they had sold their thriving business to their grandson, and that they were planning on returning to England to retire.
And as a parting gift Mrs. Harriet gave me two banker boxes packed full with her notes and journals on plants, flowers, and more importantly herbal lore.
I actually only briefly glanced at the contents of the boxes at that time, and didn’t really dig into the boxes until about 16 years later, after I had rediscovered the banker boxes when my husband and I moved to our new home.
As I was sorting through the boxes one worn composition style notebook caught my eye. Written on the cover were the words-Angelic Apothecary. Inside the notebook was a handwritten note by Mrs. Harriet that read, “You have my blessings. Pay this knowledge forward with love.”
And I’m telling you, the information inside that notebook blew me away. I expanded it experimenting with, and adding various recipes and prayers, which is now the book The Archangel Apothecary.
2. How will the average person benefit from the use of oil’s, herbs, plants, or flowers, along with the energy of the Archangel’s?
In a nutshell, accelerated manifestation. The Law of Attraction teaches us that like vibrations attract like vibrations. And Quantum Physics teaches us that everything vibrates and has its own unique energy signature. When it comes to plants, herbs, and essential oils this is also true.
Essential oil’s, herbs, plants, and flowers each have unique energetic vibrations that affect your mind/body/spirit, as well as having a metaphysical component.
So for example, let’s use garden mint. For the physical body mint can aid with digestion. So the energetic function of mint is one of healing the physical body. But the metaphysical attributes of garden mint is that of money, healing, and protection.
But here’s the thing. When you combine the energetic qualities of essential oil’s, herbs, plants, and flowers, with that of the energetic correspondences of the Archangel’s . . . magic happens! Because what you were essentially doing is creating something like a supercharged electromagnet that is powered through your intention and desires. And this high powered energetic symmetry allows you to manifest your intentions and desires very, very quickly.
3. When you talk about the energetic correspondences of the Archangels can you give us some examples of what you mean?
When we are talking about correspondences in terms of the Archangels were talking about their main function, or how they can help you, as well as those things that relate to and resonate with that function.
So let’s just use Archangel Michael for an example. Archangel Michael’s main function is what? Protection. Archangel Michael is the angel of protection. And with that protection he can provide us courage, strength, confidence, and so forth.
So his correspondences would be those gemstones, essential oils, herbs, plants, flowers, colors, or prayers that correspond to or relate to the energetic function of protection, confidence, courage, and strength.
And so for a quick reference just off the top of my head we would have Sandalwood burned as incense, Frankincense EO, Black Obsidian or Hematite, Angelica Root, which all relate to or correspond to Archangel Michaels main function of protection, confidence, courage, and strength.
And of course in the book The Archangel Apothecary there is a more comprehensive list of each of the Archangels Correspondences, along with tons of recipe ideas in various forms that you can choose from.
Simply put, the Archangel Correspondences are anything that relates to the particular function of each individual Archangel.
4. I’m just curious, is there any all-purpose essential oil or plant, or herb that corresponds with all of the Archangels energetic correspondences?
Yes. Rosemary. Rosemary in all forms can be a substitute for any essential oil or herb that you do not have on hand.
Rosemary is one of the most important herbs in old and world herbal lore and has been around the globe for centuries for healing, protection, money, and love.
And in herbal lore rosemary became linked to the Virgin Mary, who is said to have given it it’s tiny blue blossoms when she rested her blue mantle on a bush.
And something really cool that I just learned, is that early Christians believe that Rosemary echoes the life of Christ, growing for 33 years to the height of man, and then perishing.
5. What are the other ways someone can use essential oil’s in herbs in lieu of just herbal incense and oil blends?
Oh my gosh, tons of ways! In the book The Archangel apothecary you will find recipes for lotions, prayer oils and waters, ointments, soaps, teas, bath oil’s and herbal baths, sachets, and more.
But my favorite are angel charms. An angel charm is a tiny bundle filled with a special combination of oils, herbs, and often a quartz crystal or gemstone.
6. In your book you describe what you referred to as the basic ritual, for using the recipes in your book. Can you share this with us?
First it’s important to remember that a ritual is simply a moving or active prayer. And for the sake of time I will give you the abbreviated version.
But, the first thing you need to do is to set your intention. In other words, what is the goal or result you seek? A new home? A new job? More money? Vibrant health? This step is primary because your intention is the key that activates the universal law of attraction.
Next, with that goal or result in mind you would search the recipes in the book for one that lines up with your intention.
So, let’s just use the example of finding a job You search the book and decide to use the Archangel Chamuel Job Finder Charm.
What you do next is gather all the supplies you need to make that particular recipe.
After you’ve done that, you would turn to the section in the book on prayer. In our example we chose finding a job as our intention, so we would choose the new job prayer. Or in the alternative, you could of course use your own prayer.
At this time you are ready to set up your sacred space. You can do whatever feels right to you, such as light a candle, burn some incense, or whatever you feel would lend vibrational harmony to your energetic working.
Next you would begin to combine all the ingredients from the recipe together. And as you do so, it is also a really good time to feel all the great feelings you would have if you have already manifested your desire.
Finally, you would repeat the corresponding prayer to God and the Archangel you are working with, and bless the finished recipe with love and light.
Blessing the finished recipe is also called charging it. And this is a very important step because it infuses the energy signatures of the ingredients you used with that of your own personal energy vibration, as well as with that of your intention.
Once you have blessed and charged your recipe you are ready to use it.
7. You mentioned that blessing and charging a recipe is in important step. How is that done?
Before I share with you how to bless and charge your recipe let me first share with you how to feel the life force energy in your hands.
Energy healers are quite skilled at this, and the good news is that it is very easy to learn. And the good news is that is a very easy skill to learn.
1. The first thing to do is to rub your hands together briskly for about 20 to 30 seconds.
2. Place your palms in front of you, facing each other at a distance of about 4 inches.
3. No slowly push your palms towards one another-but do not let them touch-then slowly pull them back out, I’d like to think of it as playing an invisible accordion. Continue to do this for about a minute or so and just noticed any sensations in your hands such Tingling, heat, or a slight resistance like that of a magnetic repulsion.
When you feel the sensations it is a sign that you have activated and gathered life force energy, or as it is called in many Chinese healing modalities, Chi.
Now, the basic ritual you mentioned is what I call the empowering rite. What this does is to set your intention for that which would like to manifest, as well as to bless and to charge your finished recipe.
To do so, place your energetically activated hands around a vessel holding your finished recipe. Feel the life force energy in your hands as you imagine a brilliant white light coming from your palms and infusing your finished recipe.
8. Can you give us some examples of how using the recipes in your book can change someone’s mind, heart, or life?
Yes, absolutely, and there are two examples that immediately come to mind.
The first is with a client who came to me for a reading. She was in dire need of selling one of her houses in order to avoid two mortgage payments.
The first thing we did in her session was to work on releasing cords of attachment to the house she needed to release. At the end of her session I gave her a copy of my book, and simply suggested that she try one of the recipes in the book related to selling a house.
It was exactly 5 days later when I received an excited call from her telling me that she had made a Archangel Raziel Prayer Water recipe. She said that she copied down the prayer for selling a house from the book, followed the directions outlined for the basic ritual, and then blessed and charged her recipe.
She said that twice a day morning and night that she sprinkled the Archangel Raziel prayer water on the threshold of the house, reciting the sale of the home prayer in my book.
And here’s the thing – on the afternoon of the fifth the day she shared that her realtor called, told her they had a buyer who wanted to pay the full asking price for the house, but also that they wanted to move in right away.
The next example I’d like to share really blew me away. My friend Chris is a Motorcycle touring enthusiast. He loves to travel throughout the United States with his motorcycle buddies and explore the country.
He had announced to me that he was going on a cross-country tour with his group the following week. So that evening I made him an Archangel Michael angel charm which he put in the storage compartment under his motorcycle seat.
He said that he was riding slightly in front of the group on a secluded country road, just at dusk, when he lost control of his bike after his front wheel hit a black metal object in the road that did not see. During the impact his bike flipped and he was thrown on his back on the side of the road.
He said he lay there stunned for a few minutes as his friends rushed to help him. And was feeling a bit freaked out because he said that it literally felt as if somebody caught him midair and gently laid him down onto the ground!
And Chris said as his friends removed his helmet and helped him to sit up, that he looked down and there sitting in his lap was the Archangel Michael angel charm I made for him.
The amazing thing was that although his bike was totaled he was able to get up and walk away without a scratch.
And I hear so many stories like these over and over again and how quick and effective these recipes and moving prayers are!

10. One final question. If there is one key take away from your book The Archangel Apothecary what would that be?
As I mentioned previously, two words. Accelerated Manifestation. In your own book Diane, ‘Go Where They Are’, you said that we receive what we desire and draw it to us with our positive thoughts words and actions.
The recipes in the book The Archangel Apothecary amplify these through Universal Laws and imbue them with the incredibly loving and powerful energy of the Archangels; who are the loving and helping hands of Infinite Love – whose only purpose is to provide you and I everything we need and desire to live an abundant and prosperous life full of every good thing.
