How to Trust Divine Timing
Learning how to trust Divine timing is an essential skill. In the waiting room of life sometimes Divine timing can really test your faith. Especially when you need fast answers, fast results, and you need it now.
The #1 Reason for Unanswered Prayer
Has this ever happened to you? You pray, and pray, and pray . . . and nothing happens! So then you wonder – are my prayers really being heard? Am I doing something wrong?
According to Universal Law there are a lot of factors that you need to take into consideration in order to have your wants and desires manifest into reality. And what I have found is that many times unanswered prayers have to with one thing; resistance to receiving your good whether you are conscious of it or not.
And so what I’d like to do in this article is share with you the three most common forms of resistance that hinder you from receiving your desires. Knowing what these are will allow you to not only learn how to trust Divine timing, but to also teach you to get out of your own way so you can receive your good – which more often than not means quick, easy, and effortless results.
What is Divine Timing?
Now let’s talk a little bit about Divine timing. Divine timing is about letting go of the “how” and “when” things show up in your life experience, and to instead roll it over to the Universe to work out the details for you in a step-by-step manner.
Learning how to trust Divine timing does not mean to sit on your hands and to do nothing. Nor does it mean to obsess over, and micromanage your intended results. Learning to trust Divine timing is about letting go, and letting God.
A Lesson From Pope Francis
There’s a great story I just read about the process of letting go that hit home for me personally. Before I share with you what that is, let me quickly give you my back story. My husband Mike and I put a rental property up for sale three months ago. The house sold quickly, and went into a 60 day period of escrow.
Because of mounting bills with the new house we currently reside in, my husband continued to fret over the sale of the house. Then inexplicably, on the 58th day the house fell out of escrow. Obviously, we were both disappointed and frustrated because we were anticipating the additional financial income from the sale of the house.
My beloved partner once again allowed himself to ride the downward spiral of negativity. He began to worry, fret, and obsess even more than he did previously causing me to lose my peace and to become angry with him.
About that time, my spiritual team led me to an article about the current Pope and how he used a statue of St. Jude to release his cares and worries. In Pope Francis’ particular instance he needed an answer to one of his prayers immediately. So what he did was write his request, in a short and sweet manner, and placed it underneath a statue of St. Jude. Then he said to God and St. Jude, “I’m rolling this over to you to take care of it in my behalf.” In the article he said, “I just let it go and then I went to bed.” Within a few days things for him (in terms of that particular prayer request) made a 360° turn in his favor.
My ‘Aha!’ Moment
After reading the article about Pope Francis, I realized that the negativity I thought I was seeing in my husband was actually the negativity, the anger, the fear, and the worry I was projecting on the situation myself. This revelation made me tune into what was going on inside of me.
If you are currently in the waiting room of life, really think about this. Because the negativity you see in others is a mirror reflection of what you see in yourself; your own innermost fears, negative thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes.
What I did next was to make a conscious determination to make a shift in the way that I was viewing the situation concerning the sale of our house. I took an honest look at each of those fears, negative thoughts, and beliefs. These all showed up as complaints, worries, and frustration. So I asked myself the following questions: What am I resisting? Where am I not letting go? What am I not allowing?
I asked myself the following questions: What am I resisting? Where am I not letting go? What am I not allowing? It was at that moment that I realized that I wasn’t allowing the Universe to work within its own specific timing because my own resistance was sabotaging my ability to receive.
It was at that moment that I realized that I wasn’t allowing the Universe to work within its own specific timing. My own resistance was sabotaging my ability to receive. As soon as I made the connection I sincerely let go of the “how” and “when” of the sale of our house releasing it into what I call the Universal Flow of manifestation.
The surprising news is that just as it did for the Pope, everything in regards to the sale of our house began to shift rather quickly. In a matter of three days after ‘letting go and letting God’ the house sold again, with buyers who had been pre-qualified by the bank.
The point is that you need to let go before you can receive. More importantly, what I have found is that the number one thing hindering answered prayer is resistance. Once you discover how resistance is showing up in your particular situation you have the ability to make immediate shifts in your life experiences as well.
The 3 Ways Resistance Shows Up:
Fear. Fear is a very common form of resistance. It often arises from a thought/feeling that maybe you don’t deserve good things in your life, maybe others won’t like you if you receive what it is that you want, that you’re not good enough to have, be, or do that thing, and/or that you will not be able to handle the success that you desire, etc.
Over attachment to the end result. When someone over attaches themselves to the end result they believe that the end result they desire needs to be delivered in exactly the manner they are anticipating. More often than not, what then happens is that an individual will begin to obsess about the end result, and perhaps even micromanage each step; sabotaging their results by getting in the way of Universal Flow.
Remember, the Universe responds to whatever you focus on, and when you focus on something not happening the way you want it to happen, you are essentially focusing on it not happening for you at all!
Not being ready to receive. In my own practice I have found that this is the number one thing hindering people from receiving their good in life. When you are seeking new things in your life you are often called to let go of the old in order to make room for the new.
Sometimes the Universe may be asking you to either learn something that will help you get into the receiving mode such as taking a class, changing a small daily habit, and/or to release some old thought processes that no longer serve you. It may also mean that the Universe is asking you to strategize by creating a solid plan of action first in order to get you in alignment with what you want to achieve.
In my own spiritual counseling practice I have clients who come for me for spiritual guidance because they feel stuck in a particular area of life. When I share with them what the Angels are suggesting they do to overcome their personal hurdles, they tell me they already know this. But the truth is this – unless you take those steps first, the next steps on the path towards what you want will never show up for you.
Nothing can a shift in the Universe unless you respond and do the small steps that they are telling you to do first, in order to prepare yourself to have, be, or do that thing.
How to Release and Let Go
Trusting in Divine timing means that you need to release and let go of how what you are asking for is going to show up in your life.
The process of releasing is as simple as praying to God and the Angels to take charge of the situation, just as Pope Francis did with his simple one sentence request to God and St. Jude. But what do you do when some of those negative, resistant thoughts continue to arise?
Here is what I do, and what my clients have reported works beautifully for them as well:
Whenever a negative thought arises after I have released a situation into the hands of God and the Angels, I address immediately. I do this by saying aloud, “Oh that! Well thank you for reminding me. But I released that into the Universal Flow, and I’m so grateful now that God and the Angels are taking care of how that is coming about for my good right now. And so I’m willing, I choose, and I acknowledge a perfect outcome in the situation in a perfect way.”
And finally, whenever a negative thought comes up for you, you can consciously turn it around. You do this by focusing on what it is that you do want instead of what you don’t want. Negative thoughts are a gift from the Universe signaling you to redirect your thoughts on what it is that you want. So after a negative thought pops up ask yourself: What is it that I want from this situation right now?
In the instance of the sale of our house, when a resistant thought pops up I stopped and asked myself, “What do I want? I then focused on the joy of having pre-qualified buyers. Buyers who would love and care for the house as we did. I also focused on the joyful feeling of escrow closing. As well as how wonderful it would be to give the new buyers the key to the house.
Learning How to Trust Divine Timing is a Process
The hardest part in the waiting room of life is learning to trust in the impeccable timing of the Universe. But when you learn take yourself out of the equation, your results will be swift and effortless.
So do yourself a favor and roll your desires into the hands of God and the Angels. Trust in the perfection of Divine timing. Never ever give up on your dreams. And if you think things are moving too slowly, do some introspection to determine where the resistance is.
When you do this you reset your allowing button. This signals to the Universe, “I’m ready to receive my good, and I release the outcome to you right now!”
